Choosing a School Management System in Pakistan: A Practical Checklist

By Paper Gen Team at MADDY DEVELOPERS · · 6 min read

There are many school management systems available, but most were not designed for how Pakistani schools actually run. Here is the checklist the Paper Gen team at MADDY DEVELOPERS uses when talking to schools.

1. Parent communication on WhatsApp

If the system only sends email or app notifications, most parents will never see them. Look for automatic WhatsApp messages for absences and homework.

2. Classes, sections, teachers and timetables

You should be able to set up academic years, classes, sections, subjects and periods, assign teachers, and build a timetable that teachers and students can both see.

3. Attendance that teachers will actually use

Marking attendance should take seconds on a phone, support both daily and period-wise marking, and feed straight into reports.

4. Homework and diary

Teachers should be able to assign homework to a whole class or selected students, set due dates and check work with remarks.

5. Exam papers from your own syllabus

Most systems stop at record-keeping. Paper Gen also generates exam papers from your own textbooks, which saves teachers the most time of any feature.

6. Separate, private data

Your student records and exam content should be isolated from every other school on the platform, with role-based access for admins, teachers and students.

  • School admin portal for setup, staff and students
  • Teacher portal for classes, attendance, homework and papers
  • Student portal for timetable, diary, homework and progress
